All too many times I’ve gone to my closet to get ready for an evening out and stand there thinking, "I have nothing to wear" and "I need to go shopping." Well, New Yorkers in fashion crisis no longer need to suffer thanks to Monica Barnett, the owner of “Blueprint For Style,” an image consulting and personal styling company.
Blueprint for Stylewas founded in 2007 with the goal of helping individuals understand their own personal style through education. Many women (…and men, too) do not know what works for their body type and end up buying whatever is trendy. Another problem: women do not know how to accessorize using items from their wardrobe and the result is wasting money on clothes and accessories that ultimately end up sitting in your closet unused.
Blueprint for Styleis for both men and woman and what I like best about their services is that Monica will sit down with you to assess your current style, determine where you want to be, and create a road map on how to get there. She will evaluate your tastes and establish what works for your body type, age and profession…and give you advice on what doesn’t. She will even go a step further and go through your closet to see what you have that can work. I also agree that building this foundation is necessary and will help save money and time on clothes you won’t end up wearing past one season.
Her newest addition, established in July 2009, is her blog, blueprintforstyle.com. I have become a dedicated follower; she not only talks about how to convert high fashion looks into everyday wear but also gives tips on wardrobe essentials and offers great sales and deals with a variety of designers and retailers. While her services are not free, her blog is and provides a great introduction to Monica’s style and opinions.
“Style is really about showing the inner you through clothing and accessories.”
-Monica Barnett, Creator of Blueprint for Style
